Intergenerational Volunteering
Intergenerational volunteering is younger people spending structured time with older adults. InterGen Volunteer is the volunteer platform built for senior living so those visits are posted, approved, and tracked — not left to a paper sign-in sheet.
The mission and the operations
Bridging generations is the point. The work is still operations: a senior living community posts a role, a volunteer applies, staff supervise, hours get recorded. InterGen Volunteer is that system for independent living, assisted living, retirement, memory care, and nursing settings.
Students, working adults, and families can all participate where a community allows it. Minors need consent and on-site supervision. Nobody is placed unsupervised with residents.
What a visit looks like
Conversation, games, music, reading, technology help, and events in common areas. Local senior living volunteering works best as a repeating visit. One crowded holiday party is not a program.

Browse volunteer opportunities and create a free account. Communities that want an intergenerational volunteer program can post roles and manage applicants on the platform. We list what partners have published — not a fake citywide map.
Ready to take the next step?
InterGen Volunteer is free for volunteers. Senior living communities post the opportunities; you apply and track hours.
