A platform for a gap the founder kept seeing in person
InterGen Volunteer exists because people who want to volunteer and senior living communities that want engagement still have a hard time finding each other — and an even harder time staying organized after they do.
The founding story
Max Bloom founded InterGen Volunteer after years of volunteering in retirement communities — most often at the piano, sharing music with residents, including people living with memory loss. What stayed with him was not only the music, but how much a younger person's presence could shift a room.
Those afternoons offered something no classroom could: wisdom, perspective, and a quieter education in what it means to care for one another across generations. Over time a gap became unmistakable. Young people have few natural paths into the lives of older adults, and many seniors go weeks without meaningful contact with youth.
InterGen Volunteer is the practical response: a two-sided platform where senior living communities post opportunities and manage volunteers, and volunteers discover, apply, and track hours.

Built InterGen Volunteer after seeing the disconnect between people who wanted to show up and communities that needed consistent, structured volunteer help — not another one-off holiday visit.
Where we are today
We are currently accepting founding community partners. We will not invent volunteer counts, facility logos, or testimonials we do not have. When communities and volunteers are using the platform publicly, those numbers will live here.
